Stone Floor Polishing
Dry soil removal
- Dust-mop/vac with soft brush before any wet process
- Checks: No grit left in corners or grout lines
Neutral wet clean
- Clean using pH-neutral stone cleaner; machine scrub and wet-vac rinse
- Checks: No streaking or detergent film; grout visibly clean
Stain treatment
- Apply poultice for oil, rust, or organic stains
- Checks: Stain removed or visibly reduced without halo
Hone/polish restoration
- Diamond hone passes to remove scratches, then powder-polish to restore sheen
- Checks: Even gloss, no swirl marks, uniform finish
Seal/impregnate
- Apply penetrating sealer after stone is fully dry; buff off residue
- Checks: Water beads for ≥60 seconds; surface not tacky
Repairs
- Re-point grout, epoxy-fill chips, correct lippage (uneven edges)
- Checks: Joints flush, no trip hazards
Slip resistance verification
- Carry out slip resistance test (pendulum/DCOF) and mitigate if low
- Checks: Meets required safety values; mats added in wet zones if needed
